Day 32


Read me and for me

In a fortunate turn of events, I was given au unexpected honor today.  I was totally blindsided, but in a pleasant way.  Goodness, me…  I haven’t had that feeling since… 5th Grade.  That is how long it’s been since I was recognized for something without expecting it at all.  I’ll be honest and tell you that the accolade I received in 5th grade was for an essay, but the theme and content is lost to me through time.  All I remember is that I got first place and a prize.

This is not about a first place, and I don’t think it’ll get to that.  This was about being read and read to, which is a special gift.  To have a colleague recognize that your work has enough promise that it is worth sharing with others, is a unique honor.  It justifies your work and gives you the gumption to keep pushing forward.  You read and I listened…
